FAQs for Senior Home Care

Senior Home Care

Who is a typical 5 Star Home Care client?

Our typical client is a senior who needs assistance but wants to remain independent in his or her own home or lives with family members who would like some additional senior home care services.

What makes 5 Star Home Care different?

5 Star was created as a result of the owner's frustration with his mother’s inability to find a caregiver she trusted. We perform extensive employee screening through background checks, personality tests, and drug testing. Our clients love it when they discover we are a local company rather than a national franchise. Unlike some corporations with thousands of employees and hundreds of offices, you can actually reach out and touch our staff. When you can pick up the phone and talk directly to the owner, this means greater accountability to you.

Do any insurances cover these senior home care services?

Medicare and secondary insurances do not cover these types of senior home care services. Long Term Care Insurance covers our services, and we help you file and submit paperwork for funding.

How do I get started?

Call 5 Star Home Care and a dedicated professional will explain our services during a free in-home care assessment. When you feel comfortable and ready to begin, 5 Star can start home care services right away.

How do I know what equipment I need?

During the free in-home evaluation, our staff will review the clinical care needs for the client. Based on this assessment, we will be able to provide you will the specific kinds of equipment recommended for optimal care. In many cases, 'special' equipment is not required. Many homes already have available the equipment needed. When we recommend specialty items, like a shower chair/bench, we will also suggest resources for obtaining the item recommended.

Our clinical staff evaluation also includes a review of the home environment for general safety issues as well as specific fire safety and evacuation issues. We also review procedures for client safety and care during periods of extended power outages and severe weather conditions. 5 Star staff will assist in making sure the equipment needed and the pre-arranged safety procedures are defined so the best senior home care possible is available when needed.

How do I pay for home care services?

You pay a one-week deposit up front (amount based on your anticipated schedule). After that, you will be billed on weekly basis. You approve the bill and then pay by check or credit card. Acceptance of payment by ACH will be offered soon.

How long have you been in business?

Kenny’s hospital staffing agency has been in business since 2000 and his company 5 Star Home Care, which assists individuals with care in their home, has been in business since 2007. We are state-licensed and have an exemplary record.

Is there an agreement?

Yes. Because we are licensed by the State of Tennessee, they require an agreement. They review our agreement and approve its contents for your protection. 5 Star’s agreement includes a guarantee of home care service levels and a simple cancellation policy.

Is 5 Star Home Care affordable?

5 Star’s packages, pricing, and services are both flexible and reasonable. We are here for you, no matter how much or how little you need us. Medicare and secondary insurance do not pay for long term care at home so most services are private pay unless a client carries Long Term Care Insurance. Clients who have Long Term Care Insurance will be reimbursed for services or 5 Star can bill the insurance company directly so you’ll have no out of pocket expenses. Prices vary based on the level of need and the amount of time needed during the week. We determine the specific price at the time of the in home care assessment.

Is this an insurance plan?

No. 5 Star Home Care is not an insurance plan. There is no prepayment for this service. You only pay for it when you need it. However, 5 Star does assist in processing Long Term Care Insurance as needed.

What if I need to cancel my service?

If you want or need to cancel your senior home care service, we ask for a one-week notice. To change your schedule, please contact us 24 hours or more in advance.

What if home care services are unsatisfactory?

If you find our home care services fail to meet your expectations, please call 5 Star and explain the problem. We will gladly resolve any issues as our number one goal is to keep our clients happy.

Who is the staff?

The 5 Star Home Care staff is composed of dedicated healthcare professionals. They joined our team because they have a passion for helping seniors and their families and are not only interested in providing care but also improving the overall quality of life for seniors.

Why should I hire 5 Star Home Care instead of a worker whom I would pay privately?

There are four key reasons. First, we do extensive background checks to try to guard against abuse or theft. Second, we pay all the payroll and FICA taxes so that you are not exposed to any legal tax liability. Third, we provide Worker’s Compensation insurance so that you are not responsible for medical bills and possible lost wages if the worker is injured in your home. Fourth, we provide back-up caregivers, and experts on call services in case there is an emergency need. All of this gives you greater peace of mind!

5 Star Home Care is committed to providing our clients with the highest quality healthcare professionals. Our employees have many years of CNA (Certified nursing assistant) and Caregiving experience. We are committed to providing your loved ones with caring and dependable caregivers and each employee is carefully screened through a personal interview process. All employees are bonded and insured by 5 Star Home Care.
